It all started when an iron worker named Conrad Boos made a wooden chopping block for the Butcher next door, akin to the block he had been using to rest his own anvil. The Butcher saw that the wooden block could be useful to him too, and the rest is history.
By the 1940's butcher blocks and cutting boards could be found in nearly every and any butcher shop, grocery, and restaraunt in the nation.
